If you're working for home or just playing it safe by practicing social distancing, now is a perfect time to bring a new furry family member into the fold. Email us any questions about any cats we have and we will be happy to provide any additional information you may need. If you are approved for adoption, we are now doing curbside adoptions in order to minimize contact.
Ginger is about 3 years old as of December, 2024. Ginger is a special girl looking for an equally special person to call her own! This girl truly loves to be loved- so much so that she would prefer not to share you with any other pets. Honestly, there’s no need for any other pets, as Ginger’s love and affection is equal to 5 cats combined! She is so genuinely happy to be relaxing and hanging out- as long as it’s with you. ♥ï¸ Ginger is remarkable in many ways, including the way she walks. She has cerebellar hypoplasia, which gives her a cute little wobble and requires NO ongoing treatment or medication. She is sure to keep you laughing with all of her crazy antics! All of our cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Our adoption fee structure is as follows:
$75 - Kittens/Young (Up to 1 year)
$50 - Adult (1 Year +)
$25 - Senior (7 Years +)
$0 - FIV +
There is an additional $25 fee for cats considered to be an "Exotic" (Siamese, Persian, etc...)
If you are a senior (65 years or older) you can adopt any of our senior cats (7 years or older) for only $10! Please mention this special when applying.
We also have a kitten special - adopt 2 available kittens (1 year & under) for $125

Safe House is based in Bureau County, IL. Our pets live in foster homes so pets are shown by appointment only, but our volunteers will meet you any time of day or night to introduce you to the pet of your dreams. We also partner with our local Petsmart for adoption events.

For the homeless, abused, or neglected animals of the Illinois Valley area, Safe House is a beacon of hope, a place for second chances, a warm spot to rest tired heads, to heal wounds and start anew.
Safe House Animal Rescue League is a 501(c)3 (nonprofit) organization run exclusively by dedicated volunteers. We are implementing innovative and progressive life-saving programs throughout central Illinois that pave the way for No-Kill communities where no pets are killed simply for being homeless.
We focus on rescuing pets who are at the greatest risk of being killed in shelters or animal control facilities and have saved hundreds of lives through our adoption programs.
