Meet the marvelous Mr. Marvine! Marvine is a shy and sensitive fellow who really warms up in the company of a kind and gentle human. Marvine was found tied up out in the cold and brought to ACCT to give him a warm place to stay.
Marvine is now patiently awaiting a kind person to save him from the loud and scary shelter environment. He is available for adoption and foster at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm! Interested fosters should email foster@acctphilly.org.

Behavior:
Per staff 12/10/24: Took out Marvine for activity time again today. He was easy to leash in his kennel and once in the eval room he immediately began to solicit attention right away and hopped into my lap. He allowed all handling and was his usual goofy and affectionate self! He met a new person today as well and while he was initially shy he warmed up quickly and began to solicit from her as well.
Per Volunteer 12/9/24:
Marvine was laying calmly in his kennel when I approached. I called him over and he came to the front of the kennel and allowed me to easily leash him. He has very nice leash skills- doesn’t pull much at all! Definitely a little hesitant of me approaching him in the play yard, but gave me some tail wags when I tossed some treats. Really warms up with treats and takes them super gently! Likes chasing birds in the play yard. Showed some interest in a squeaky toy but never fully played with It but I suspect once he’s opened up a bit he might be more playful! He’s shy at first but allowed me to pet him and came to meet to solicit more pets and give me kisses! No issues returning to kennel
Per Staff 12/9/24:
Marvine was very wiggly today for his activity time! I brought him into my office again and he immediately shook off, wagged, and hopped up onto my lap in the chair. He was very affectionate soliciting constantly in the room and wanting to be close. He displayed some playful behavior as well and zoomed around! He was shy meeting new people but warmed up quickly
Per Staff 12/8/24:
BEHAVIOR EVALUATION:
Kennel Presentation: Marvine was in a crate due to space. He was very scared when I approached and was pancaked and curled up with wide semi soft eyes. I was able to easily reach in and leash him without issue. Exited slowly without any problems.
Leash skills: Pulled Minimally on leash
Handling: Marvine is a shy little man but warmed up so much in the room with me. He would seek out comfort from us in the room and wanted to stay close to us at all times. He allowed all handling without any issues and would glance up at me with soft eyes when interacting with him. He would get wide eyed if you did too much handling on his hind too quick, but was never tense towards us at all. He would put his front paws up on my lap and give lots of kisses. He even allowed me to lift him fully up onto my lap and was extremely tolerant to all handling. he did well meeting other handlers as well.
