My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dodi is one of the Banks 5 litter. Five beautiful female German Shepherd/Golden Retriever mixes dropped on a rural road in a county without animal control to fend for themselves. All five have sweet personalities but are shy in the beginning. They have been in foster homes since 11/15/24 and are blossoming more each day. Dodi is one of the larger girls weighing 50 lbs. Our vet doesn't expect them to get much bigger as they are 10 months old (DOB 1/21/2024). Dodi and Zillah are fostered in the same home and would love a home with other dogs and a fenced yard. Dodi has a gorgeous brown coat and beautiful golden eyes. She will make a great family pet. She loves being outdoors where she can run freely. Once Dodi warms up, she is more outgoing than her sister (Zillah). Zillah is still adjusting. She is very timid and will need a patient family. Both girls are current on vaccines and their spay has been scheduled (included in the adoption fee). Apply to meet/adopt these beauties on our website.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
