Diego was brought to the shelter as a stray. It took us a couple days to earn his trust but once he learned that we weren’t so scary his true colors started to shine through! Diego has been very sweet and friendly. He has done great with handling and didn’t even flinch when he received vaccines. We do suspect that he will be a little shy when meeting new people for the first time but luckily, he is treat motivated! Diego appreciates time with his people and is happiest when being praised or petted. He is a young and active dog who will thrive best with regular exercise and play time! Diego really enjoys regular walks, and we have noticed that getting a breath of fresh air helps him feel less anxious in the shelter. We do not know if Diego has lived with children or other animals. He has not been reactive towards other dogs and is often excited to be by a buddy! We can provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed. Diego is still learning basic dog manners, but we are pleasantly pleased to say that he is doing great! Diego has gained confidence with walking on a leash and does well, but he may need a little redirection at times. He appears to be mostly potty trained, but it can be difficult for dogs in a shelter environment. Diego is asking for some grace and patience while he continues to learn! Diego is a very good boy and deserves to find the best home. If you feel that your home would be a good fit for him, we encourage you to come by and meet him!
