My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All our dogs are spayed/neutered and fully vetted. Senior dogs receive extra bloodwork and we try to do dental cleanings on any dogs that need them. Most of the dogs in our care are crate-trained and cat tested. We test with kids when we can. Our process can seem involved and long - we appreciate your patience. Adopting a dog is not like buying a candy bar in the checkout lane; it should never be a last-minute decision or one that is not fully thought out.

ADOPT ME

Swifie is a little bigger than your average beagle.  We believe she is probably a foxhound.  She is only 33lbs.  She is a wonderful little girl.  She wants to be with her people and will follow you everywhere.  She also loves to play with other dogs. She has completely won over my 78lb coonhound who doesn't always do well with other dogs in his house.

Swifie would be a great companion to another playful dog, but she could also be great as an only dog in an active household.

Like what you see? Fill out our online application! We work on a first received, first approved, first adopted basis. We definitely encourage people who are interested in adopting, even if they haven't found the right dog yet, to fill out an application. Our process can take as long as two weeks (we work day jobs!) so having an already approved application speeds things up considerably when you see a dog that catches your eye.

Additional adoption info

Please fill out our online adoption form (http://www.atlantabeaglerescue.org/adoptionform.php) if you are even remotely interested in a dog. We work full-time jobs that are not beagle rescue so our priority in responding to emails goes to completed applications. Note: There are several required fields on the form, and if they are not filled in, you may get an error on submittal.

Our non-refundable adoption fee is $250 for dogs over 6 months old and $300 for dogs under 6 months old. All dogs are spayed/neutered, dewormed, current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, have their teeth cleaned if they need it, and microchipped. We frequently spend the time and money to run bloodwork to check for thyroid issues if our vet feels it is warranted. All senior dogs (generally over 8-10 years) get a full senior blood panel work up as standard procedure. We generally foster all dogs for at least two weeks as well to make a solid assessment of behavior, personality and general health. We want our new beagle owners to have a dog that is ready to go "out of the box".

Our policy is "first approved, first adopted". Once you are approved we will set up a time for you to meet the dog. We do this to minimize stress on the dogs, and us. We all have full-time jobs and want to meet with people who are serious about adopting from us, not a "casual looker".

More about this rescue

Atlanta Beagle Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit Georgia corporation. We are a small group of dedicated beagle lovers doing our best to match fabulous dogs with fabulous homes. We like to think of ourselves as more of a match-making service than a rescue, because we like people too! We all have day jobs so this is a part-time labor of love. We never take in more dogs than we can handle so we are never in rescue "crisis" mode.
