My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet big boy Bear!

This nearly 130 pound boy is looking for his forever home!

His ideal home would have a yard for him to relax and play in, and an adopter who can handle his big size. He has shown very little reactivity on his walks, but any potential adopter would need to be able to handle his strength.

Bear is cautious of new people, and often lets his big bark out to let everyone know this. With the people he does trust, he shows great affection to, often laying down and pawing for pets.

Bear would do best in a home without young children or other animals. He needs an understanding adopter who will take the time to earn his trust and love.

Thank you for your interest in adopting! Do you think you could be Bear's person? Apply today!

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
