My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I`m Rhubarb!
I may be a little shy when we first meet, but don`t let that fool you, I`m full of love and fun once I get to know you! Once I feel comfortable, I can`t resist showing off my zoomie skills. I quickly made a lot of human friends at the shelter and they love to take me to the park. Playing and zipping around are some of my favourite things to do. I promise I`ll make you laugh with my silly antics.

When I first arrived at the shelter I wasn`t feeling my best but with the help of my amazing foster family I am starting to feel a bit better! My new family should be prepared to continue my health journey with me.

~ Rhubarb is looking for an active family that will provide lots of activity, exercise, enrichment and training daily to set him up for success.
~ Rhubarb can be a little nervous and fearful with new people, in new situations or new environments. Her new family will have to be patient with her and help her learn the world is not so scary.
~ This girl is looking for a home with older children due to her nervousness and need for learning some manners.
~ Rhubarb will need to be signed up for at least two in-person training sessions before she can go to her new home. She needs to work on her manners and socialization due to her nervousness, she would benefit from more training to continue this work and continue her basic training.

Regularly Exhibited Behaviours:
- High Energy
- Nervous/Shy
- Mouthy
- Jumpy
- Under- Socialized

Explanation of behaviours:
- An active dog that will need plenty of exercise, training, stimulation and enrichment daily to set her up for success.
- Rhubarb has shown to be nervous and shy of new people, in new situations and in new environments. Her new family will need to work with her on slowly, and properly, desensitizing her to the world around her.
- Once comfortable, Rhubarb can become excitable resulting in jumpy and mouthy behaviour.
- Rhubarb is under-socialized and her new family will need to be prepared to slowly, and positively, socialize her to new things, environments, people and experiences.

This dog would benefit from:
- An active home
- A home of all adults or older children
- Lots of training and socialization
- Lots of time and attention

Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog:
- Basic Obedience
- Basic Manners
- Mouthing
- Jumping up
- Socializatio

Additional adoption info

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
