My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gizmo
Sometimes, humans lose track of animals because they are too busy doing other things. My latest owner of only two months, surrendered me to HSHC on November 16 because I was unwanted. I had been his son`s cat for about four months and was originally his roommate`s cat before he abandoned me at the apartment. A fellow could get a complex about being unwanted! I was pretty sick when I arrived with a nasty head cold, live fleas, and a URI. I had to stay in Sick Bay for quite a while to recover. I also learned that I need a dental appointment asap. I am an 8-year-old, solid black cat already neutered and litterbox trained. According to the interviewer lady (IL) and several cattery staff members, I am a charming guy with an affectionate nature. I gave the IL lots of headbutts and pushed my head against her arm for pets. She thought I was a great cat with a winning personality. In the past, I have successfully lived with dogs, cats, and kids. I would like to find a new owner who will never use the word `unwanted` in reference to me. I am in need of a loving home, and I hope to find it soon. 12-16-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
