My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Curt
If you like a man of mystery, then you will like me! I am a 10-year-old male cat, solid black with one bright gold eye. The mystery is what happened to my other eye. I arrived at the HSHC as a stray cat from another shelter. That shelter had no idea how or when I lost my right eye. My coat is rough and thinning, and I look as though my life has been rough up to now. I am grateful for the kind treatment I received at HSHC and the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC), where I now live. Since I am a slightly older gentleman, I have been doing little socializing at SKCC. I found a nice, comfy spot in the litterbox/food room and settled there. The interviewer lady (IL) came in to see me and ask me some questions about my past. Unfortunately, the mystery of my life is not available to the humans most interested. She knows I am a very sweet-natured, friendly, and easy-going fellow. Many people have a soft spot in their hearts for senior pets. You could make the rest of my life the very best part of my 9 lives by taking me home with you. I promise to be a charming companion. 12-16-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
