Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Xavier was rescued from a basement with 16 other dogs and has suffered from neglect, as you can see by how skinny he is. He is the sweetest, gentlest, and most loving dog who deserves much better than he has experienced in his short life. He gets along well with other dogs, rides nicely in the car, and lives for food, so training him should be easy. He took a nice walk on the Medfield Rail Trail and was calm and friendly around dogs, walkers, and bikes. He seems so happy to have a cozy bed, a coat to wear on cold days, and three meals a day, plus snacks. He is neutered and up to date on his vet care. We are guessing at his breed.
He is eight months old and weighs 45 lbs. but is very underweight. He is not housebroken, but he is working on it, so his new family must be prepared to work with him on that. He is making great progress now that he has the chance to get outside.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill out our dog adoption application here: http://medfieldshelter.com/adopt. Our adoption fee for dogs ages 7 months to 7 years is $450. Dogs 8 years and up are $250. Every dog we place is vaccinated, wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash.
With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families who are willing to make a commitment to both.
All adoption meetings are by appointment only as we only have two employees. Our manager or one of our volunteers will be happy to set up an appointment for you to come meet the pets, but please fill out the adoption application first.

More about this shelter
The Medfield Animal Shelter's mission is to rescue lost or abandoned animals and provide for their comfort and safety until they are reunited with their owners or placed in new homes. We are a no-kill shelter, which means no pet will ever be euthanized because it has run out of time to find a home. We are committed to ending the overpopulation of pets that results in an estimated 5 million companion pets being euthanized at shelters in the U.S. every year, therefore all cats, rabbits and dogs adopted from us are spayed and neutered prior to adoption. We also sponsor a low cost spay/neuter clinic for cats at our shelter once a month.
