My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Opal, a shining gem of a kitty! This 11-12 mos old spayed female was a stray mom who cared for her five kittens and now it’s her turn to be pampered and loved. Opal is calm, gentle, and easy to handle. She was in a shelter cage since late October and is more than ready to have a good stretch. But what she’d love even more is to snuggle up with you! Looking for a sweet and affectionate companion? She's petite in size and easygoing and would make the purrfect companion for a 1st time pet parent or family and would do well with apartment living. Her foster mom says "This girl is a doll. She just wants love. And food! She is hard to photograph because she is in perpetual motion. Every photo I take she has a paw raised because she never stops kneading". While she tolerates other cats, Opal would prefer to be "queen" of her castle. Opal is ready to shine her way into your heart, your lap, and your home—just in time for the holidays! Meet her in Alexandria, VA Posted 12/7/24

Additional adoption info

We strive to make the "purr-fect" match through our interview and application process. Adoption fees, which range from $165-$185, include all medical work (FELV/FIV testing, shots; spay/neuter, etc); home visits may be required prior to final placement. The majority of our kittens are only available for adoption in pairs or as a companion to another young cat/kitten already in the home. Sorry, but we do not adopt very young kittens to families with children under 6 yrs old due to safety concerns for both child and kitten. Adopters also receive a certificate for a free comprehensive wellness exam at any Caring Hands Animal Hospital.

Go meet their pets

All of our cats are cared for in cage-free private foster homes; therefore, we request an application be completed before setting up appointments to meet them. Request an application by emailing us through our website. Adopters must live within a reasonable driving distance to No. VA ( maximum 60 minutes); we do not ship/transport our animals.

More about this rescue

We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. We do not have a shelter and rely on a group of dedicated foster homes to care for our felines until a "fur-ever" home can be found. We actively promote the importance of spaying and neutering and best practices in companion animal care. The majority of our cats/kittens come from high-kill shelters. We do not receive any government funding and rely on private contributions, 100% of which go to provide medical care, food and supplies.
