My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Millie and Dex are a playful and social 12-week-old brother-sister-best-friend duo looking for their forever home together!

In case you’re wondering who’s who, Millie is the smaller of the two with fluffy jet black fur and the cutest button nose. Dex is the bigger of the two, with the handsomest ghost stripes and a little white tie that points you right towards his favorite spot for scratches.

Millie is all things peachy sweet and girly! She follows her humans around like a shadow and is always weaving between our legs rubbing up on us. When she gets sleepy, she loves nothing more than a good snuggle session and will hop up on your lap to cozy in. She has the loudest purr that begins before you can even bend down to pet her. Dexy boy is the definition of rambunctious boyhood. His zest for life and playtime leave his humans smiling all day long. In some sort of past life Dex was probably a professional soccer player because give this boy any sort of ball, and he could bat it around for hours! But he also enjoys being close to his humans and loves nothing more than being picked up and absolutely melting into your shoulder for some scratches.

These siblings are the absolute best of friends. Where one kiddo is, the other is sure to be nearby. Whether they are snuggling, wrestling, playing or chasing each other, they are probably doing it together. Their relationship with each other is precious and special and full of lots of love.

This precious panther duo currently live in a home with 2 adults, 2 resident cats and 1 resident dog. They are very well socialized and get along with everyone and everything very well. They can often be found snuggling with the resident cat and playing with the resident dog’s tail. They love everyone they meet and greet us by the door every time we get home.
Overall, they would really thrive in most any home. As long as they have each other, cozy laps to snuggle in (the more the better) and fun toys to play with, they would make a joyful addition to whomever is lucky enough to adopt them. In fact, they would really enjoy a couple human children to love on and follow around. They would make the best family pets for a young family looking for a couple of cats to grow up with. The more the better in Millie and Dex’s world!

So, if your home is looking for some lively fun, 2 new adorable faces, 8 panther paws and infinite love, look no further, Millie and Dex are the kittens for you!
---------
Millie & Dex are scheduled to be spayed/neutered on December 14th. They will be ready to head to their forever home on December 19th once they’re all healed up!

Additional adoption info

Pet Haven is a foster-based rescue. Our animals live with foster families until they are placed in permanent homes and their foster families get to know the dogs and cats learning important information about the animals. For example, the foster family will know if the dog or cat is good with other animals or children, and will have a good idea of what kind of training, attention, and special needs the pet may require. This makes our foster families great resources for potential adopters!

More about this rescue

Our Mission
Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats; reducing pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts, and providing resources to people that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

Our Vision
A Minnesota where all pets live in safe, loving homes.

Our Values
Excellence in service and care; community; integrity; innovation; perseverance; compassion; a rewarding place to volunteer

How We Help
Spay/Neuter Initiative Program: Providing support to end pet overpopulation in Minnesota
Owner Surrender: Providing a safe haven for pet owners
Foster: Committed to finding forever homes for cats and dogs
Phoenix Fund for Special Needs: Providing veterinary care for animals in need of healing
What We Do
We help dogs and cats find homes with loving families through foster-based care. Every dog and cat lives with a foster family until they find their forever families. We provide all of their basic needs including proper food, veterinary care, behavior training, and supplies.

Through in-home fostering, we learn about each animal’s temperament, personality, likes/dislikes, and any medical needs. With this first-hand information, we can then find the right family for each dog and cat.

Our volunteers also educate the public on responsible companion animal care and represent respect for animals at all times. Whether we’re working with prospective new families, meeting people at public events, or socializing with friends and family, we encourage others to view and treat their pets as members of the family. We are their guardians, and they depend on us for companionship and care.

We spay/neuter prior to adoption.
We microchip all our Pet Haven Pets and remain as a secondary contact.
We make sure all pets are up to date on required vaccinations
We test for Heartworm and Lymes in all our dogs and are transparent in the results and treament
We test for FeLV/FIV and are transparent in the results. We believe that cats who test positive still deserve a chance at a quality home.
We do not euthanize animals unless they have untreatable health or behavioral conditions that deny them an acceptable quality of life or makes them a serious threat to people, other animals, or themselves.
How We Operate
We rely on adoption fees, tax-deductible donations, grants, and special events to keep our rescue operating. Our staff, Board of Directors, and volunteers have provided the passion and commitment to keep Pet Haven a safe haven for animals for almost 70 years.

We are committed to preventing pet homelessness through the SNIP Grant. Since 2005, we have granted more than $240,000 to organizations in Minnesota to support spay/neuter initiatives.
