Hello! My name is Beans and I am a big playful boy that loves people. I can to the shelter in November of 2024 and have been looking for a family to call my own.
I am quite the big boy but I still think I am small. The staff say I am quite strong and need some time and patience to figure out how to walk on a leash nicely. I have found out that I am a master at sit (says the staff) I mean I would do anything if it meant I could get those yummy treats. I often drool at the thought of them.
When I`m outside I love to run around around with the people I love. The best is when we play keep away with our toys. They always seem to let me win and I just get so excited and sometime get the zoomies. I would love to find a home that loves to play with me and will gets me lots of stuffed animals or play and snuggle with.
Even with my size that doesn`t stop me from being the biggest cuddle bug around. I love pets and attention and often lean right into people for some much needed scratches. I promise my new family that I will try my best not to take up most of the bed but if I do you`re guaranteed to be warm on these cold winter nights.
If you are looking for a big bundle of joy and adventure than I would be it. I can`t wait to say hi to you and bless you with many kisses.
Regularly Exhibited Behaviours: - Mouthy - Nervous/Shy - High Energy - Jumpy - Under-socialized - Extra Strong - Lacks leash manners/ training
Explanation of behaviours: - An active dog that will need plenty of exercise, training, stimulation and enrichment daily to set him up for success. - Beans has shown to be nervous and shy of new people, in new situations and in new environments. His new family will need to work with him on slowly, and properly, desensitizing him to the world around him. - Once comfortable, Beans can become excitable resulting in jumpy and mouthy behaviour. - Beans is under-socialized and his new family will need to be prepared to slowly, and positively, socialize him to new things, environments, people and experiences. - Beans is very strong and does need a lot of work on leash training to improve his leash manners.
This dog would benefit from: - An active home - Plenty of training and socializing - A patient family - A home with adults or including older kids
Training needs/behaviours that need to be worked with for this dog: - Basic training - Basic manners - J

Come into the Centre and if you see a pet you like, you are able to do a "Meet and Greet" with that pet. Spend some time in alone with the pet or take a dog out for a short walk. If you are still interested in adopting the pet you can meet with one of our Adoption Counsellors who will have you fill out and application and will ask you some questions about the environment in which you live. If you seem like a wonderful match and your envirnoment meets the needs of the pet then your application should be approved!
