My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Abe is a little sweetheart. He does great with his 2 Foster dog siblings. He has already nailed it with house training, crate training, using a dog door, and walking on a leash. He loves to go out walking! Abe would benefit from a home that isn't overly "rowdy" on the people side - mainly due to his initial shyness with strangers. He's a snuggler with his Foster mom and enjoys being with her immensely. Foster Dad is still a "maybe" for him, but he's watching the other dogs run up to him and is soaking it all in from a safe distance. Abe is a fast little learner with a heart of gold! A fenced yard is ideal for Abe, as is a companion dog in the home to play with him. With proper patience in letting Abe get to know you, he will do great in many homes. He becomes a fast friend once he trusts you. He's playful yet "gears down" for the activity level of other people and dogs around him, is curious and fun, and will bring so much joy to his forever home!

To submit an application, you will need to create an AnimalsFirst account. Please write down the username and password that you create.

Home Check

Home visits are being done virtually due to Covid.

3.
Meet the Pet

The majority of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. Fosters will contact you to schedule a meeting with you and your dog.

4.
Sign Adoption Contract

Contracts will be signed through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

5.
Pay Fee

Payment will be made through your AnimalsFirst account. Please have your login information prior to meeting the dog.

6.
Take the Pet Home

Don't forget an adoption picture! We like to post adoption pictures to our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Go meet their pets

Over 75% of our dogs are in foster homes along the front range. The foster will get in touch to schedule meetings for their foster dog. Meetings will happen in/near their homes since that is where the dog is the most comfortable. We do want you to bring family members (human and dog) to the meeting! Dogs who are currently at our Windsor facility will have meetings there and a volunteer will reach out to schedule those meetings with you. Please be aware that we do not place our dogs on a first come, first served basis, but rather a best-fit placement. Never fear, applications are valid for a year so if the first dog you meet isn't a good fit, we will have plenty of time to find one that is.
