Meet Miss Chiquita Banana! Chiquita is an outgoing and loving dog. She loves everybody and everything around her. She loves to go on daily walks around the neighborhood and is great walking on leash. She also travels very well in the car. Chiquita has a great little personality and really just wants to sit with someone all day. Chiquita rarely barks but she does make some weird alien like noises at times. LOL Chiquita is being fostered with another small dog and they get along fine but we think she would prefer to be the only royalty in the family. Chiquita has been around cats, so maybe a cat peasant would be fine! Her favorite toy is the mini tennis ball, she loves to just carry it around with her. She loves to take long naps on the couch during the day. And sunbathing is part of her daily routine!
Unfortunately, she had a really rough life before we rescued her. When we rescued her, she was so skinny, her coat was horrible, she had the worst case of Giardia (intestinal parasite), an injury to her left eye, a heart murmur and a partial intestinal blockage that by some miracle she was able to pass. Chiquita had a echocardiogram done on her heart and it revealed she has a couple of valves that are causing her murmur. It is not too bad right now, but at some point later in her life she may require medication, but for now she is doing fine heart wise! In regards to her eye, she had old corneal scarring and a corneal ulcer, all very painful for her. She had eye drops and ointment everyday in her left eye to help with the pain and pressure. The eye pressure was on the higher side of normal, but her eye was bulging and very red. She had very little to no vision in this eye too. So, we made the hard decision to have her eye removed so she can be pain free. Since getting the eye removed and she has healed from surgery, she is no longer in pain and as a result, has turned into a whole new dog. You can really see her whole personality shine through now! She is happy and playful!
Chiquita is possibly the sweetest dog with the crappiest past we have come across in a long time. She loves people and delights in any amount of attention she receives. We are pretty sure she was just a puppy making machine. And when she couldn't do it anymore they threw her out like last night's garbage. Chiquita is a red Boston terrier and weighs about 17 pounds. She is full grown and we think she is about 6-7 years old. Chiquita is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, has gained a few pounds, all of her medical is cleared up and she is ready to go into her forever home. Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We do not ship animals or do long distance adoptions. See our adoption policies for more details on our adoption process. If you are interested in adopting one of our available pups, please complete an adoption application. You can find the application at: https://noahs-bark.org/adoption-application. Please note, an approved adoption application and meet and greet does not guarantee you will be selected to adopt the pup. We do not show our dogs any other time. Noah's Bark restricts pet adoptions to residences within a 30 mile radius of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We do not ship animals nor do we do any type of long distance adoptions. We do not adopt to persons under 21 years of age. We require prospective adopters to meet both us and the animal, fill out an application and be interviewed. Adoptions are not done a first come first serve basis. Generally, applications are accepted online, approved applications are scheduled for a private meet and greet, and applicants are selected based upon the best match of the particular pet's temperament and needs. A meet and greet does not guarantee a dog will be placed with you. If an application is approved we usually will require home check so we can ensure the animals safety. These pets are not for sale and the decision of where to place them is solely at the discretion of Noah's Bark. We reserve the right to refuse placement of our pets to any individual who does not meet our criteria. We also reserve the right to keep our reasons for refusal confidential within our organization. The welfare of our rescue animals is our top priority.
There is a required tax-deductible adoption fee for each dog. The adoption fee is $300 - $400 for dogs and $500 for puppies (note some purebreds and smaller dogs may be adopted at a higher fee. Seniors and special needs pets may be adopted at a reduced fee). The adoption fee must be paid via cash, Venmo, or PayPal. A spay/neuter deposit by check is required for puppy adoptions. The adoption fee is used to help offset some of the cost needed to operate our rescue organization. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, vet checked, vaccinated and dewormed prior to placement.
We have an adoption contract which requires you to return the animal to Noah's Bark if at anytime you should no longer be able to keep your pet. Pets adopted through Noah's Bark can not be sold, traded, given away or disposed of in any way. Although all of our animals are thoroughly evaluated, we cannot guarantee their health or temperament.

More about this rescue
Noah's Bark is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit local pet rescue organization based in the Los Angeles South Bay area. We are committed to finding permanent and happy homes for unwanted and homeless pets in our community. The organization was founded by Lila Hemenway in 1997. We rescue and rehome approximately 300 pets each year. Our organization does not have a shelter, volunteers provide foster care for animals while they await placement. Pets come to us as strays, owner turn ins and from LA area shelters. We get dogs of all sizes and ages, purebreds and mixes alike. Although we primarily rescue dogs and puppies, we also occasionally have cats and kittens for adoption.
