My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Phil, Phil, Phil… what can we say? This little guy is pure charm wrapped up in a short, chubby body! Let’s just get this out of the way — Phil is undeniably one of the cutest dogs in the world. With his charisma, adorable teddy bear looks, and just the right amount of sass, he’s got us all smitten.

Phil came to us after his previous owner started a family and felt they couldn’t give him the time and attention he deserved. We were told he barked and whined throughout the day — but he was also kept mostly in a crate, away from his people. They even suspected Phil held a “grudge” against one of the kids for getting more attention than him! Strange? Maybe. But he’s a Pug, and Pugs live for human companionship — it’s practically in their DNA! So yeah, Phil might’ve been a little naughty in his previous home, but who can blame him? Honestly, we admire this adorable little troublemaker for having a bit of a bad-boy streak. He’s multi-dimensional, okay?

At about 9 years old, Phil has earned the right to enjoy life, whether it’s innocent fun or a touch of mischief. He he does need a dental cleaning but has to shed a few pounds before he's able to go under anesthesia. He has some corneal pigmentation on his eyes but still has most of his vision. He also has luxating patella's, but isn't in pain, just has some wobbly knees. So, he's got the typical senior ailments but otherwise is doing well and would love an owner with senior dog experience to help throughout this next chapter in his life. Phil does well with people, kids, and other dogs, but he thrives when he’s the center of attention. He’s looking for an attentive owner who can shower him with love and help him live his best life as he moves into his golden years.

More about this rescue

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Our goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if we cannot do that, we pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives. Our Board of five and numerous volunteers are passionate about Pug Rescue and live by our motto of “One Pug at a Time”. We feel that through our efforts we can change many of these forgotten Pug’s lives. In order to find our Pugs a home as soon as possible, we hold at least three adoption fairs a month and also organize a number of fundraising events, including the annual Pugtacular festival and Legendary Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s in West Hollywood. These events and on-line fundraising have provided the money to help pay for vet treatments, medicine and loving care at our Pug Station. We rely on the generosity of our supporters through donations and participation in our fundraising activities. If you would like to make a donation, find out about the next event, become a volunteer, foster, or adopt your own rescue pug, you are in the right place! You can also follow us on Facebook and twitter, there is always something going on and new pugs needing your help.
