My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SUNSHINE is FIV+.  This means she has a compromised immune system.  She can live just fine with other cats, without concern that they will get it as long as they get along and there are no deep bite wounds causing major trauma....which shouldn't be a problem since Sunshine likes other cats.  She should live indoors only because being outside would expose her to unnecessary disease and illness.  She can live a full, long life, but it will be important to have her seen by her vet at early signs of illness due to the compromised immune system.  Sunshine was a young, outside cat prior to coming to Mountain Pet Rescue with her 1-day-old kittens.  She was very frightened the first 24-48 hours....then she discovered how awesome her foster family's touch was and she melted.  As she got more comfortable in her space, she was eager for her foster family to come into the foster room each day so she could soak up all the attention she could get.  While anxious about quick movements, she will seek out attention once she is comfortable.  She likes rubs here, rubs there and rubs everywhere, even her tummy.  She also makes some pretty great biscuits while she is enjoying the attention.  She wants to give you nose bumps, but tends to want to take the lead there and gets anxious if you try to give her a kiss on the head when she isn't expecting it.  Then she scoots backwards out of the way.  She gets anxious about being held, but her foster mom got her up to 30 seconds at a time before she wiggled down.  She started climbing onto her foster mom's lap too, but hadn't yet decided laying in the lap was perfect.  I do think she was getting closer though.

To meet Sunshine, complete our adoption application and an adoption counselor will call you to schedule a meet and greet with this sweet girl!  All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormer and started on monthly flea preventative.

All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
