My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Pupusa was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on November 14, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Pupusa and Tamale, a bonded pair of female Australian Cattle Dogs, are searching for a patient and understanding home where they can grow together. Coming from a background with limited exposure to the world, they are naturally shy and cautious with new people and experiences. These sweet sisters need to be adopted together and thrive best in a calm, adult-only home (kids 12+). A ground-level home in a quiet neighborhood with easy access to a potty area is ideal as they continue to build confidence. They are wary of other dogs, so a canine-free household is preferred, though introductions to any resident pup prior to adoption would be essential. Our trainers are ready to provide guidance to help Pupusa and Tamale settle into their new home and discover the joy of companionship and love. They will even be sent home in a large crate to ensure their comfort in their new home!

At SDHS:
Pupusa has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Pupusa is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
