My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bonnie, a lovable and energetic bundle of joy looking for her forever home! Bonnie was surrendered to the shelter through no fault of her own, and now she's ready to find a family that will give her all the love and care she deserves.

Bonnie thrives on human companionship and loves to be around her people. However, she does experience some separation anxiety, so she will do best in a home where someone is around to provide her with comfort and reassurance.

As a big, playful puppy, Bonnie still needs a bit of help with her basic training and manners. She would greatly benefit from working with an AnimalKind trainer to help her reach her full potential. With consistent guidance, Bonnie will grow into a well-behaved and loving companion.

Bonnie is neutral around other dogs and may be fine with a sibling in her new home. If you already have a dog, a slow introduction would be key to making sure they hit it off!

Bonnie does have some special needs that her future family should be aware of. She suffers from "happy tail," which means she has a tendency to wag her tail a little too enthusiastically. She also has sensitive skin, so she is currently on a special diet to support her skin health.

If you're ready for a dog full of love, energy, and the potential to become an amazing addition to your family, Bonnie might be the perfect match for you! Please submit a pre-adoption questionnaire here: https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/dog-pre-adoption-questionnaire/

*Please note: Bonnie is currently awaiting spay surgery, and so is only available for foster-to-adopt local to the South Okanagan area*

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
