My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

7 month old Luce Kat is a calm quiet guy who likes to watch the action.

If you are interested in adopting from the City of Georgetown Animal Shelter, please fill out an application at https://records.georgetowntexas.org/Forms/AdoptApp . Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule an appointment to meet available dogs and cats. Please contact the shelter with any additional questions

The application/screening process for potential adopters usually takes about 24 hours except when it falls over a weekend or holiday, and then it may take two or three days. We ask that potential adopters please be patient with us; we are only trying our best to ensure that the homeless pets in our care get the best possible home. All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter are spayed or neutered (as Texas law mandates).

Our adoption fee is currently $70 for non-residents and $75 for residents*.

The adoption fee includes:

spaying/neutering
vaccinations (appropriate to species and age)
heartworm or feline leukemia test (appropriate to species and age)
de-worming medication
microchip (a tiny ID tag inserted under the skin, which allows your pet to be returned to you quickly)

There is a $5 Pet License fee added to the adoption fee if the adopter lives inside the City Limits of Georgetown.

Please visit our website for more information on how to adopt, special events, adoption application, educational and volunteer information.

Additional adoption info

We have an adoption application for dogs and cats. You may complete the application ahead of time and email it to animalsvc@georgetown.org, fax it to 512-930-3672, or bringing it with you. Applications will be reviewed but not finalized until the applicant has met the animal to make sure it is a good match. The process takes 2-3 business days and the applicant will be notified whether or not they are approved for the adoption. If the applicant lives within the city limits of Georgetown, the fee is $75, $70 if outside the city limits. It includes city license (if applicable), spay/neuter, rabies and basic shots, microchip, dog heartworm test , wellness check with a contracted Georgetown vet, bag of food and lots of information on pet care. We also have a senior to senior adoption process, call for information on it.
The city license is required for all dogs and cats within the city limits and a current rabies vaccine is required to purchase the license.

Go meet their pets

Our shelter hours are 11-6 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 12 -4 on Saturday and Sunday. We are located behind the SanGabriel Park next to the soccer fields. We usually have some adoptable cats at PetsMart in Wolf Ranch and once a month adoption events at Market Days, Red Poppy Festival, and Christmas Stroll, call for more information.

More about this shelter

We have a lot of success stories because of the great staff and wonderful volunteers. We have foster families that take in young or injured pets. The staff and volunteers work hard to maintain a safe and healthy place for our pets, and we have several offsite adoption events each month. We offer microchip services. Every animal deserves a great home and we work hard to see that they get one. We always need more volunteers, foster families and donations.
