Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hi there, I'm Velma. I look more like a miniature Scooby Doo at around 35 pounds. My past is a bit of a mystery, and I'm not telling. We do know nice people found me with an embedded collar and puppies. After many Scooby Snacks, they got us all to a shelter. The vets removed the collar and my neck feels so much better! My foster mom says it is healing well.
I'm thankful my foster mom lives on a farm. It's helped the transition to a house again when there's lots of space to roam inside the fence. The four farm dogs give me confidence. Doorways are intimidating, but they don't mind them. Sometimes my foster mom invites them in so I'll follow. She's crafty!
As a crime fighter, I know to stay back and observe when uncertain. Being careful and cautious helped me keep my puppies alive. Now it helps me figure out life as a pet. New people are mysterious. I wiggle and wag my tail while staying out of reach. If you throw some Scooby Snacks and kneel down sometimes I'll come give you kisses. I do love booty scritches and being told I'm a good girl.
Because my neck is still healing, I wear a harness. I don't know what she wants when she puts a leash on it. But if she puts a slip lead where it doesn't touch my booboo I know a little bit of walking next to her. I'll need more practice, bring the Scooby Snacks to show me!
I like riding in the Mystery Machine but getting in and out is daunting. I'm also not the best with cats. The outside farm cats are tempting to chase. When I'm around house cats, I go in the crate if a person can't supervise.
Jinkies! I sound pretty perfect, don't I? There's a downside, I'll need the winter to get healthy. I need to be spayed and I'm heartworm positive (the rescue will cover all the costs at one of their partner vets). Winter was made for couch snuggles and quiet time anyway. When spring comes I'll be ready to hit the road and have more adventures with you. No mystery machine is required!
