My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

(DOB 10/25/2023) Rye is wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids, though she can be a little excited at times, so small kiddos might get a gentle bump by accident, so older kids in her fur-ever home. With this trifecta, you are sure to be a big winner when you adopt Rye!

Rye is always ready for fun adventures—whether it’s a walk, a game of fetch, or exploring new places with her friends! She would love a fenced in yard (4ft+), so she can run and romp to her heart's content with her furry friends or her family members. She's always up for some good 'ole fashioned fun! Rye is fairly flexible, in that, if there isn't a fenced yard, as long as there is plenty of long walks, jogs or heading to doggie day care to play with friends, would all be good. Whatever it is, Rye just wants an active family to keep up with her energy and endless smiles. In addition, Rye could be a good companion in an apartment, condo or townhome. She'd love a friendly, playful pup in the home but could also be an only dog you dote on. We beleive her lifestyle could fit many as long as the home is filled with love, patience and lots of happy times!

Rye is a clever girl with a mischievous side! She loves to explore and, if left unattended with tasty treats within reach, she might try a little counter surfing. But with some guidance and supervision, she’s sure to be a well-behaved. She is also already house trained, crate trained and learning to walk nicely on a leash. Rye is smart and treat/motivated so teaching her how to go from fun and silly puppy stage to young adult is something she is looking for with her new family.

Rye is looking for a patient and loving companion to share her joyful spirit and bright future. Give her a chance, and you’ll be rewarded with endless love and happiness! Rye is a true survivor with a heart of gold! She came from a tough past, but with love and care, she’s bounced back stronger than ever. Once just 24 pounds and facing challenges, she’s now full of life, energy, and affection. Are you ready to meet your new best friend and partner in crime? Then Rye is ready to meet you!

As part of Rye’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Rye, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

1. Review the description of the pet you are interested in to make sure that the information we have fits with your particular needs and desires. In most cases, the information on the website is current and gives the information that we have about the particular pet. The picture of the pet does not tell the whole story.

2. Complete the adoption application at https://pawsforlifenc.org. Please make sure that you give us as much information about yourself as you can. List all animals currently living with you including other dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and rodents. The application needs to be complete in order to help us determine if the pet you have chosen is a good match for your home.

3. Once the application is submitted we will contact you, your references, and your vet.

4. We require a home visit prior to dog adoptions.

5. If more than one person applies, we will go with the BEST fit. If all things are equal, we go in the order the applications were received.

6. Once the home visit has been completed, you will be asked to complete an adoption agreement.

7. The adoption fee is $325 for dogs under 6 months, $300 for 6 months and older. The adoption fee is $125 for kittens under 1 year ($225 for 2 kittens), $85 for cats 1 year and older. This fee helps us to provide the necessary medical care and other needs for the pets while in foster care.

8. All Paws For Life NC pets are spayed or neutered if old enough, current on shots, micro chipped, and to our knowledge, in good health before they are adopted out. Puppies under 6 months of age will require a $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee and a special puppy spay/neuter agreement. Kittens under 6 months will require a $50 refundable spay/neuter deposit in addition to the adoption fee. We are all volunteers and receive no monetary compensation for our work with the pets. The adoption fee is used to help defray costs in the rescue and care of the pets.

9. Congratulations! You are on your way to having your new companion. We hope that you and your new companion share a life of love and happiness. We welcome any comments you may wish to give us about your pet at any time.
