Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Skye is an awesome shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter late November 2024 from a neglectful situation. Despite her history, her sleek black coat is gleaming. And she has cute tan paws.
This beautiful, athletic girl is going to be a fantastic companion for some lucky family. She loves people! She's highly intelligent and playful! We think she'll do great with both adults and older kids.
She hasn't been at the shelter long enough for us to know if she likes other dogs and cats.
Skye is 5 years old and currently underweight. We're trying to fatten her up just enough to keep her healthy.
She loves to run and play and to give and get affection. She is smart and quick to learn.
Walking, jogging, hiking, playing ball . . . do you need a buddy to keep you company while enjoying activities like these? Then you can curl up together and take it easy. Skye will do well with a single person or a family ready to give her love, exercise, and consistency. A fenced-in yard would be great, but she'll do alright with plenty of leash walks.
Skye is up to date on vaccines and soon to be spayed.
She's ready to go home, and we can't wait for you to come and meet her.

More about this rescue
Save The Animals Rescue Team II (S.T.A.R.T. II), started in 1989, is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 status organization dedicated to alleviating the plight of homeless and abandoned companion animals. Twice a week we visit a local pound and take as many adoptable animals as we can. These animals are provided veterinary care, clean living conditions, exercise and socialization.
We work with potential adopters to find that perfect match…..giving them a "fur"- ever home for life. In addition, we educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering as well as offering low cost options, vaccinations, preventive medications, and proper living conditions for their new and existing pets.
This lifesaving work is critical for many of these unfortunate animals, since their only crime was to be born unwanted. Since our inception, we have rescued and placed over 7,000 dogs and cats.
