My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are pleased to introduce Thanos. He was rescued from a hoarding situation, and after several months of socialization, he is now ready to find his forever home. Thanos also goes by the name Thurston Howell III because of his very silky, luxurious coat, and the name Arnold because he has a football shaped head.

Thanos is a young adult and because he had not been altered early in life, he has a more muscular body. He also has bigger cheeks which contributes to his football sized head. He could probably be a linebacker for a football team.

Being in a hoarding situation, Thanos grew up in a very small amount of space which he had to share with a lot of other cats. After several months of being in his foster home, he is now both comfortable and confident in his home. He loves to be in the room with his foster parents, and he loves sleeping on blankets or on top of cat trees.

Thanos does share the house with other cats, and with proper introductions, he does tolerate them. He has been seen playing with some of the younger cats. He probably would not do well in a forever home with older or grumpy cats since he either doesn't understand or doesn't care when other cats growl at him.

Thanos would prefer a home that serves temptations and preferably a lot of them. The use of temptations as a food motivator was the best technique to get this young fellow out from under the sofa. If you are not sure when to give Thanos temptations, he will chirp at you and lead you to the treat box. He will nicely look up at the box to make sure that you know what to do. He is very helpful that way.

The best forever home for Thanos will be a more quiet home or at least a home that will respect his need for patience while he adjusts. Everyday this sweet boy is learning more and more how to be a cat. He is slowly working up the courage to sit on his foster mom's lap. We think with more time, Thanos could become a lap cat, but he needs a home with experienced cat parents who are willing to give him the time and love to become the best kitty we know he is!

More about this rescue

Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
