Hi, I’m Rusti. I never imagined myself in a shelter, but here I am. Life was good—I had a loving human and my sister, Sandi, by my side. Then everything changed when our human passed away. Now Sandi and I share a cage at the rescue, waiting for someone special to bring us home.

You probably want to know more about me. I’m feeling a bit shy, but that’s just because my world has been turned upside down. Cats really don’t like change—did you know that? But with a little patience, you’ll see my true self. I have a big heart, and once I feel comfortable, I’ll purr when you pet me and even roll on my side to show off my soft, fluffy belly.

Just imagine bringing me home, letting me curl up on your lap, and running your fingers through my long fur. What a wonderful way to relax at the end of the day!

Sandi and I are a bonded pair—we’re inseparable. If you’re looking for two loving, loyal cats who share a special bond, we’re the perfect pair for you.

AS OF JANUARY 2018:
Dogs: $100 - Includes Heartworm/Lyme/Ehrlichia Test, DHLPP and Rabies Vaccination, Dewormings, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering.

Puppies (0-6 months): $150 - Includes 3 DHLPP Vaccinations, 3 Dewormings, a Certificate for a Rabies Vaccination, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering by a participating veterinarian.

Cats: $40 (or 2 for $50) Includes Feline Leukemia/Aids test, 2 RCP Vaccinations, Rabies Vaccination, 2 Dewormings, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering.

Kittens (0-6 Months): $80 (or 2 for $120) includes a Feline Leukemia/Aids test, 3 RCP Vaccinations, 3 Dewormings, Certificate for a Rabies Vaccination, flea and tick treatment (if needed), and Spaying/Neutering by a participating veterinarian.

More about this shelter

Located on Stagebridge Road (Rt. 624) and Rt. 29 just two miles north of Lovingston on 2 acres of Land.
Houses animals in "real-life rooms".
A Spacious lobby/waiting room and reception area.
13 rooms for dogs which will hold 2 to 3 dogs depending on size.
4 cat rooms for multiple numbers of cats.
Two isolation rooms, one for dogs and one for cats.
A room for bathing and grooming.
A food preparation area.
A conference/meeting room.
Inside and outside exercise areas for dogs.
Open seven days a week.
Animals being surrendered by their owners are accepted on a space available basis if they are judged to be adoptable. Animals are also selected from unclaimed or unwanted animals at the Nelson County Animal Control Facility after they are evaluated by the HS/SPCA and judged to be adoptable. Strays will continue to go through Animal Control.

No animal will be put down unless it is judged to be dangerously aggressive or untreatably ill. Almost Home Pet Adoption Center now has several part-time employees
but still relys heavily on volunteer help.
