My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you always dreamed of meeting your very own Snoopy? Alpha is the perfect beagle boy for you! Alpha (aka Alphie) is a 9- 10 year old, 20 lb. beagle mix from the ACC!

He has adjusted very well during his time in the city.

Alpha loves going on walks, playing in the leaves, and being cozy at home with his humans and dog foster sister.

Alpha is a very smart boy who already knows “sit” and “stay” and is working on other obedience skills.

During his time with his foster family, he seems to be mostly housetrained. He does all of his business outdoors, as long as he can go for regular walks.

Alpha is pretty great on the leash, and is working to get even better! He is super friendly with people, and sometimes gets distracted by all of the exciting smells in the city. Sometimes he barks at bigger dogs or birds and wants to jump over to say hi, but he’s easily redirected.

Alpha is a loyal, loving, happy-go-lucky pup. Always sweet with a wagging tail, he’s happy just to be with you.

His forever family will need to continue working with Alpha to reinforce and advance the progress he’s been making. He’s a smart dog who is eager to please – he should adjust and learn quickly.

Alpha has done okay in his crate during the day! He will sometimes cry for a little while but usually settles after a bit. If his family gives him time to adjust to being in the crate before they leave for the day, he does much better. He is generally well-behaved and could potentially be left safely loose in an apartment in the future. Though he would love to sleep in the bed with his humans, Alpha does great in his crate through the night.

He loves to be cozy with his foster family and can often be found curled up on the softest, tallest cushion in the room.

Alpha is looking for a low-key to medium active family. He’s very happy to nap all day with his humans, but has great energy for his age and loves being outdoors too!

He appreciates downtime and active moments equally. He’s the perfect mix of a sleepy couch potato with a dash of playful energy.

Alpha would be great as a solo dog or with another dog at home. He has apparently lived with cats before too. Alpha enjoys the presence of his foster sister, but mostly leaves her alone.

While we have not tested Alpha with children yet, his foster family believes he could be good with them.

Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

To apply for Alpha, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available.

Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

STEP 1: Apply!
Download and complete an ADOPTION APPLICATION from www.waggytailrescue.org/adopt-a-waggytail

STEP 2: The Meet and Greet!
We strongly suggest the ALL members of the household come to the meet and greet. This is the time to determine whether a dog's personality is match for you, your family and your other animals, and if you have allergies. If everything goes well you may adopt the same day, or take a day or two to decide, but we cannot indefinitely hold dogs in foster care for you.

STEP 3: Contract and Donation!
Fill out and sign the TRANSFER AGREEMENT.

The DONATION FEE may be paid by Venmo (@WaggytailRescue) or Paypal (waggytailrescue@gmail.com, add $15 processing fee). Please put the name of the dog in the memo section! Electronic payment is preferred!
You may also pay by check (payable to Waggytail Rescue), however processing of adoptions may be delayed by up to 2 weeks.
If your new buddy is not yet neutered, a $100 refundable deposit must be paid at adoption.

Dog Donation Fees
(includes microchip registration, age appropriate vaccines, and neuter)

$550 for puppies under 1 year
$450 for dogs 1 to 8 years
$325 for seniors over 9 years of age

Please add an additional $15 when paying by PayPal to cover processing fees.
Add $100 neuter deposit for unfixed animals.
