My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

  • Dogs Name: Zedudiah (Zed)

  • Sex: Male

  • Breed: English Mastiff

  • Age: Approximately 5 years old

  • Weight: 212

  • Other Dogs: Yes (A little dominant, but not aggressive)

  • Cats: Yes (Likes to chase)

  • Kids: Yes

  • Training: House Trained, Crate Trained, Walks well on leash

  • Car: Rides well in car

  • Does well sharing food and toys with other dogs

  • Location: Ishpeming, MI

Zed is very sweet and loves to snuggle. He is a true gentle giant and follows his foster mom everhwere. He does well on a leash, but would probably be able to be off leash as he is a slow moving guy who just wants to be with his people. He gets along well with other dogs although he can be a little dominant, he is not aggressive about it though. He is good with cats too, but does tend to chase.  With redirection he does just fine. He LOVES people food but he is learning that dog food is good and eating from a bowl can be fun! He is food motivated and loves water. We keep towels all over to wipe his drool after he’s done getting a drink. He does well in a crate, but he is stubborn about going in. Once in though, he settles in and snores the time away. He does seem to have some hip issues, he walks with a waddle and doesn’t like to stand up for too long. He sits down after walking around and prefers to eat, drink, and play laying down. Overall, Zed would do well in any home but he would thrive in a chill home with people who will love on him.

The perfect adopter for Zed would be someone who can take him on daily walks but then let him sleep the rest of the day away. He loves to chill out with his family. He could go to a home with or without other animals, but other calm dogs would be best because he gets nervous around dogs with a lot of energy. He is good with cats but does like to chase them. Kids would be okay too but he does like to snuggle and lay on his people so older children for that reason would be best. He likes to stay close to his people and he doesn’t like to be too active, so a fenced in yard isn’t needed.

More about this rescue

Just Giant Rescue Inc (JGRI) is a dog rescue catering to giant breed dogs. We don’t discriminate against breed, but they must be giants such as the regal Great Dane, loyal Mastiff, and clownish Saint Bernard, to name a few.

We strive to follow the 3 R’s.
• Rescuing. We rescue from all types of situations, owner surrenders, and from local shelters. We strive to help as many as we can, with what resources we have available.
• Rehabilitating. All dogs are fostered inside loving homes, becoming temporary family members. They are fully vet checked, vaccinated, spayed/neutered, and guarded against heartworm, fleas and ticks. They are also given a temperament test prior to being eligible for adoption.
• Re-homing. Each dog is individually matched with the best suited adoptive home for them. Each applicant wanting to adopt must fill out an application and complete a home check prior to being approved.
