We took Sailor in for the holidays, and she far exceeded our expectations on just how good a 6 month old puppy can be. She is very smart, and started getting the hang of potty training and going outside after just the first day, and signaling when she needed to go out. She is the perfect balance of goofy and mellow- loving to prance around with a toy and play, but loves nothing more than cozying up with her family on the couch with a blanket and snoring through a nap. Her puppy energy was never unmanageable- she was mellower than many puppies i’ve met- and because she is so smart and sweet, she was easily redirected and would settle down, especially if given her nylabone or a chew toy. She was at first intimidated by walks, but grew a little more confident each day in the short week that we had with her. She did not show any reactivity to dogs passing by the lawn when she would go to the bathroom, and did not react to squirrels either aside from stopping to stare at them occasionally. Sailor is the sweetest soul who with absolutely steal your heart- whether it’s always greeting you with kisses, or her proper sits and head tilts, she is a pup full of affection and she is a perfect example of why dogs are a man’s best friend. She quickly grew comfortable with us and is a perfect example of why dogs are a man’s best friend. Sailor seems to be a confident, well rounded puppy who just needs to share her love with a forever home!

Border Tails Rescue is a licensed no-kill animal rescue and welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and adoption of stray dogs across the world, with a unique focus on Mexico. Border Tails Rescue has a physical shelter facility with dogs on site for viewing everyday. Border Tails Rescue primarily works with rural shelters across the country, including but not limited to TX, AR, AL, LA, KY, IN, and MI on a regular basis as well as CACC, Chicago’s open intake shelter. BTR is Woman-founded by Harleigh Garcia, who was 20 years old at the time. The organization was founded in December of 2019 and Border Tails Rescue is registered with Illinois Secretary of State as a non profit organization. Border Tails Rescue operates entirely on donations and adoption fees.
