My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kira is a loving and sweet soul who truly lives up to her “gentle giant” title. This beautiful, big-hearted girl adores her people and is always ready to shower them with affection. Whether you’re looking for a cuddle buddy or a loyal companion, Kira is always there with a wagging tail and a loving heart.

Kira is great with other dogs and loves to make new friends – she’s as gentle with them as she is with her human family. But what makes her even more special is her loving nature towards cats! She’s calm, considerate, and absolutely enjoys being around her feline friends. If you’re looking for a well-rounded, loving companion who can fit into a home with both dogs and cats, Kira is the one for you.

More about this rescue

A New Leash on Life has a goal of saving all the adoptable pets about to die in the municipal shelters of Alabama until we become a NO KILL state. We rescue, provide veterinary care, provide a foster home or adoption center spot, and find adopters who are good matches for homeless dogs and cats...AND horses, pigs, rabbits, and any other animal who needs our help. All animals are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, testing (HW for dogs, FIV/Felv for cats), and whatever else they need before adoption.
