Mum Mum is a reserved gal who recently found herself in the shelter after her owner passed away. While she’s understandably a bit nervous and unsure, she’s a sweet one at heart and deserves a calm, loving place where she can feel safe again.
Mum Mum prefers to do her own thing, though she softens when treats are offered, taking them gently and even showing off her knowledge of “sit” and “paw.” She’s still adjusting to human interaction but gradually becomes more tolerant of handling, especially with time, patience, and treats.
Mum Mum loves apples and ice cubes, and she’ll appreciate a home where she can slowly open up and rebuild trust. She may not be ready for playtime yet, but with love, this sweet girl will find her way.

Behavior notes:
12/16/24 staff noted: Took Mum mum out to meet with a potential adopter today and she did well. I leashed her very easily and she walked well to the iso yard. She allowed pets but did not solicit them just wanted to walk around the yard. She seemed a bit reserved today. She walked the perimeter of the yard trying to find any hole or opening to squeeze through, with no luck. Seems like a sweet girl, I just dont think she is feeling well. We walked back to her kennel and unleashed her without issue.
12/14/24 staff noted: Got called to ISO and was told by an ACA that Mum Mum redirected on her. Mum Mum had escaped her kennel in ISO and was fighting with a dog through their kennel door. As the ACAs tried to separate her Mum Mum redirected and bit the ACA in the foot. She did not break skin and they were able to get a leash on and get control.
12/8/24 staff noted: Mum mum joined us when we were meeting with someone, she was uninterested in us at first but then came up, she is picky about treats but for high value will sit and even give paw. she appears to be very housetrained as she immediately peed and pooped in the room and her kennel was completely clean. she seems a bit unsure at first but then warms up, and is an adorable little low ride
12/7/24 volunteer notes: Mum mum had a fun day today! She picked a toy from Betty's Brigade, met Santa on his carriage, and met other dogs. She is housetrained as she went outside immediately both in the morning when seeing Santa and in the afternoon to meet other dogs. She was a bit nervous with all the commotion in the morning but did well. In the afternoon, she was comfortable and loved going on a walk. See her photos. She's a cutie with short muscular legs.
12/5/24 staff behavior evaluation:
KNOWN HISTORY:
Owner passed away
KENNEL PRESENTATION:
Mum Mum was on the backside of her kennel and was curled up. When she saw the handler she slowly stood up and came across to the front. She kept glancing back though like she was going to retreat so the handler lowered the divider. Once the divider was lowered she stayed by the front door and lowered her body remaining tense and fearful. Allowed the handler to slowly slip the leash over her head and exited easily.
LEASH SKILLS:
Pulls minimally
HANDLING:
In the room Mum Mum was nervous. We held her on leash for a bit due to her body language. She sniffed around the room remaining stiff and ignoring us doing her own thing, but would interact with us when treats were offered. She took the treats gently and would soften in her eye contact but she would tense up again after taking the treats. She gave some small spurts of low wags at times, but continued to stiffen and hard stare if the handler reached for her at all to attempt handling. She would tolerate small spurts of handling but did not seem comfortable at all with them and gave signals. Treats really helped her while outside and she showed us knowledge of Sit and Paw! She would continue to take treats gently from us and as time went on she began to ease into handling a bit more, softening and becoming more tolerant.
