You MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application to be considered for Schroeder. The application and additional information can be found at bfpa.org.
FOSTER PARENT COMMENTS: Meet one of the Charlie Brown Puppies. Schroeder will steal your heart and is hoping to play his piano at your house!!
Schroeder had his first vet exam on 12/3 when he was ~ 8 weeks old and weighed 9 lbs. He is now ready to leave his foster home and is looking for his forever home. He is ready to explore what life will bring him in his new home!! Could that home be yours?? .
Schroeder is the cuddliest, sweetest little love bug! It’s impossible not to fall in love with him. Loves people, LOVES to be held, loves to crawl into your lap or arms and sleep, or just observe what’s going on from a secure and warm place. He is not timid, but he is gentle and just has a calm, sweet disposition. He loves playing with his sibling Lucy and the fosters 7 yo dog. He probably will get along great with any dog he meets or lives with.
Schroeder loves everyone he’s met. He’s going to be a wonderful dog and we hope he finds a family as sweet as he is!
Puppies this young may not be appropriate for very young children since they will play bite and nibble on hands and feet when given the opportunity.
EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Schroeder had a rough beginning to life. His 5 siblings and momma were brought into a rural shelter when they were only 2 weeks old. The momma dog was in such poor health, she had to sadly be euthanized. A rescue group took the puppies and bottle fed them until they could were old enough to move into Best Friend Pet Adoption. They are all in loving foster homes now and are looking forward to a much better life now.

ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Ideally you live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We may consider adoptions that are within an hours drive IF the adopter is willing to come to the Raleigh/Cary area for all medical care until the puppy is neutered at around 6 months of age.
We prefer to adopt young puppies to people who have previous experience owning a dog and live in a single family house rather than an apartment, condo or townhome. Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. Any children in the home under 6 years old should have experience living with a dog in their home.
NOTE: Since Schroeder has only had one vaccine, he is still susceptible to diseases. He cannot live in any multifamily dwelling without his own dedicated yard. Any adopter must have their own yard and must keep him only in their home and yard until the second vaccine in early January. He cannot travel over the holiday season.
