Hello! My name is Bette and I am a 1-year-old, 40 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I struggled with separation anxiety when I came to my foster home and have worked hard on overcoming it, so I will need an adopter willing to maintain my progress. I take daily fluoxetine to help manage my anxieties.
I love my people and will actively seek all the affection and snuggles I can get from them! I can be suspicious of new people and may bark at them until I know you better. It is best for new people to ignore me until I have determined you are okay and approach on my own, then I will be ready to begin teaching you that 40 lbs is the perfect lapdog size.
I have done well meeting other dogs and like to play with my foster sister! I may benefit from having a confident dog in the house, though another dog isn’t a requirement for my adoption. I have displayed resource guarding around food, treats, and my valued toys so I need to have a private space to enjoy these things. I have met a cat and wasn’t too interested, so I could be a candidate for living with a cat!
I ride well in the car and like to accompany my foster mom on outings! My leash skills are a work in progress as I didn’t have much practice until recently, so I pull a bit and am learning how to pass other dogs calmly. I have started learning some commands such as sit and come. I came to Echo Dogs with both my front legs broken. They were corrected using plates and screws, and I have since recovered, but my adoptive family should be prepared for early arthritis or potential pain issues as I age. I am a curious, fun girl who is ready to find my perfect committed family—could that be with you?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states. Visit www.echodogs.org/available-dogs to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog IS available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
