Meet Alven – The Sweetest Senior Boy! Alven’s journey hasn’t been easy. This gentle 11-year-old found himself in a local shelter after being picked up as a stray. Cold and shivering, he broke our hearts, and we knew we couldn’t leave him there. A shelter is no place for a senior dog like Alven, who deserves a warm and loving home for his golden years.
He is the definition of chill. He’s an expert napper who loves to lay at your feet and follow you from room to room. Laid-back, easygoing, and incredibly sweet, Alven doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He’s great with other dogs, preferring low-energy companions to share tail wags and casual yard explorations. Alven is also fine with kids and would likely do well with cats too.
This small boy, weighing just 22 pounds, could stand to gain 2-3 pounds to reach a healthy weight. With his double coat, Alven did wonderfully during his bath and brushing sessions. While we’re not sure of his breed, his soft fur and gentle demeanor have people comparing him to a small Norwegian Elkhound.
Alven is crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is quickly mastering house training. He’s great in the car and simply loves spending time with his humans, soaking up all the scratches and affection he can get.
Senior dogs like Alven deserve a chance to live out their golden years surrounded by love and care. If you’re ready to give Alven the warm, peaceful home he’s been waiting for, apply to meet him at bcaaofnj.org.
