Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Princess is a petite terrier mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. At under 30 lbs, this lovely lady is a mix of cautious curiosity and growing confidence, ready to find a patient and understanding forever home.
While in a foster home, we learned Princess is leash and kennel trained, and mostly house-trained (only one accident so far!). She’s reliable with a regular potty schedule and can hold it for up to 10 hours when needed. She is good with cats and tends to be calm and indifferent toward them, often giving them a polite sniff before going about her day. She’s still figuring out how she feels about other dogs. She’s shown interest but can be wary or reactive at times. For now, she may thrive as an only dog or with a calm dog. Princess has done well with older children (~10+ years) and enjoys their gentle company.
Princess loves chin scratches and is learning to trust hugs and kisses. She’ll whine and nuzzle for more attention if you stop petting her. Her face always tells you how she’s feeling—she’s an open book! The guide to Princess is slow and steady. She’s learning to play, tolerates baths with a peanut butter bribe, and is calm when being handled if you go at her pace. As she grows more comfortable, she’s exploring her world with a wagging tail and gentle manners. Singing to her is a great way to soothe her if she’s uncertain. She’s not big on toys (yet) but enjoys short games of tug-of-war. Treats and attention are her favorite “toys” right now. Loves the rain, does a joyful twinkle-toe dance for meals, and barks with excitement when you come home.
Princess has had a tough past, and her “bad” behaviors stem from fear and past trauma. She has made great progress in her foster home and just needs a loving family to help her continue blossoming. Sudden movements can scare her, so a calm and predictable home environment would suit her best.
If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, sensitive, and soulful companion into your home, Princess is waiting to meet you! She is currently in foster care outside of the shelter. All dogs and cats will be spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, preventative care, and microchipped.
