My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet little Hope is the ultimate cuddle bug and has some of the best puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen! She's a bit shy when you first meet her, but she’ll be crawling into your lap in no time. After just a couple of days in her foster home, her loving personality came shining through. Her tail now wags like crazy and she happily trots along behind her foster mom, like your own personal little shadow!

Despite the colder weather, Hope's been a champ about taking quick potty breaks outside and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She has free reign of the home while her foster mom is at work and spends her time keeping a keen eye on what's going on outside or tucked in a warm bed. Although her specialty is cuddling, Hope is also playful and will run a few zoomies around the fenced in backyard and enjoys playing with toys and bones. She’s also treat-motivated and would love to learn new tricks for a reward!

Hope has done well with the larger resident dog and politely shares the couch. She would likely do fine with another calm, respectful dog but she would also be perfectly happy to be your one and only! Hope has not met any children since being in her foster home but would likely do best in an adult home or one with patient, older children that can handle a small dog gently. This sweet girl is a gem and will make her forever family very happy!

Hope is estimated to be 3 years old and 12 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Go meet their pets

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
