My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hope is the ultimate cuddle bug and has some of the best puppy dog eyes you’ve ever seen! Since arriving at her foster home, her loving personality has really come shining through. Her tail now wags like crazy and she will happily curl up in the nearest lap. She fits the definition of a "velcro" dog and she'll trot along behind you from room to room, like your own adorable little shadow!

Despite the colder weather, Hope's been a champ about taking quick potty breaks outside and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She is trusted to roam free while her foster family is at work and she doesn't get into trouble - just make sure to put the dog treats away! Although her specialty is cuddling, Hope is also playful and she especially loves her red squeaky ball and is pretty good at fetching! She’s very treat-motivated and learned to sit in just minutes. She is quickly picking up on leash walking when the weather allows. This is one very smart little dog and she'd be happy to learn any trick you teach her in exchange for a treat!

Hope is currently living with a calm, larger dog and they coexist very well and politely share the couch. She would likely do fine with another calm dog but she would also love to be your one and only! Hope has done fine with the cats she's met. Hope has met older children and, after some initial shyness, she was eating treats from their hands and letting them give her belly rubs. She will likely do best in an adult home or one with patient, older children. This sweet girl is a gem and will make her forever family very happy!

Hope is estimated to be 3 years old and 15 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Go meet their pets

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
