Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
Hey there! My name is Zeus, and I am a big and friendly boy that was surrendered to the shelter because I was a little too much for the child in the home. I am by no means aggressive - I just am a very big boy that doesn't always know his own strength! That being said, I would probably do best in a home with older children and people who can handle a strong dog like myself! I had never really been around dogs before coming here, and at when I first came, I was pretty indifferent with them. However, the longer I am here, the more overwhelmed and anxious I get when around the other dogs. That's not to say there may not be a special dog out there that may be a good fit for me, but for the most part, I would probably prefer to not have to share my home and family with another dog. I am very loving and smart, so I would do very well in some sort of training classes or even just us working together one-on-one to make me the best dog I can be! I have a bit of energy and spunk, so I would prefer a home that has the space and willingness to give me lots of exercise! I love to run and play, but I will also chill out on the couch with you and get some pets! Think you can handle a big lovey boy like me? Ask to meet me at the shelter! Hopefully sooner than later though because I could really use a way out of shelter life for good!

HSSC places animals on a first come, first serve basis. After an animal that is available for adoption has been met with, the animal’s name can be put on an application. Animals that are applied for must be adopted the same day or within 24 hours of the animal being placed on the adoption application. Exceptions will be made if any animal needs a medical procedure, but then will need to be adopted within 24 hours of being cleared from that procedure. HSSC reserves the right to accommodate alternate timelines for special needs/behavioral issue animals.
It is the potential adopter's responsibility to communicate with their landlord to contact HSSC for approval or to provide documentation stating permission within 24 hours of application submission.
It is also the potential adopter's responsibility to produce a current rabies certificate for their current dog(s) to conduct a dog to dog meet and greet within 24 hours of application submission.
Please call shelter for adoption pricing.
