My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It`s-a-me! Wargio! Here we go! I`m a 4 year old medium sized dude with tons of energy! I`m a okey dokey dude looking for his Princess/Prince! I already know `sit` and I love to go on tons of walks. Along with playing fetch with tennis balls and stuffies! I will do best in a home with older kiddos who know space and boundaries. I`m-a gonna get you to be my furever family if you`re up for an adventure buddy! Come meet me at APF, Tuesday-Saturday, 12p-4:15p! Yahoooo!!!!!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process is simple! Call or stop in to see who we have available, a staff member/ volunteer will meet with you to discuss the pet and the next step to complete adoption paperwork. Bring a photo ID with your current address on it. We may also ask to speak with your vet to make sure your current pets are up-to-date on their vaccines. We ask that you bring all members of the household with you to meet the pet, and if you're interested in adopting a dog, also bring your current dog(s) with you to make sure everyone gets along. In most cases, you can take your new pet home the same day!

All cats and dogs have been spayed or neutered and are up-to-date on vaccines. We also spay or neuter our rabbits. Cats have been tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia; dogs have been tested for heartworm, Lyme disease, and Ehrlichia.

Call 518-374-3944 for information regarding adoption fees and specials.

More about this shelter

The Animal Protective Foundation is a humane society providing services to Schenectady County and the greater Capital Region. Since 1931, the APF has held true to the mission of its founders. We have an open admission policy which ensures that animals are not turned away based on their breed, age, condition, or circumstance.

We provide many services including pet adoption, reduced cost spay/neuter, microchipping, pet bereavement support, end of life services and dog obedience classes. We also assist low-income pet owners by providing pet food to the Schenectady Inner City Mission (SICM).

We hold several events throughout the year for fun and fundraising, and your tax-deductible donations are always appreciated. Be sure to ask us about our wish list for items needed to keep our animals happy & healthy. We're also looking for volunteers and foster homes.

Our mission is to a promote and protect the human-animal bond by providing resources for our community and humane care to companion animals.
