My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Goose is a brown & tan Doberman mixed-breed puppy who was transferred to our shelter after being found as a stray. He is probably the happiest-go-luckiest little guy you will ever meet! Goose loves to be included and will give you lots of puppy loving for just looking his way! Since he was found as a stray, we do not yet know if he gets along with cats or other dogs. We do know that he did have a fractured femur, as well as a rupture of his CCL (knee). The knee was repaired surgically, but the rest healed due to cage rest. As a result, Goose will always have a slight limp because his leg is now a bit shorter. What he lacks in bone material he more than makes up for with his big personality. He will require a medical consult with our veterinarian before he can go home. He currently weighs about 35 Pounds (8/29/24) and his date of birth is 10/15/23. Come meet Goose!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
