Meet Dixie Lou, a 2-year-old sweetheart with a heart as big as her journey to recovery! Weighing in at about 9 pounds, Dixie Lou has overcome a rough start in life. When she was rescued, she was left behind in a home with a terrible skin infection, almost no hair, and was covered in fleas. But thanks to loving care and veterinary treatment, she’s made amazing progress and is on her way to a full recovery.

Despite her past, Dixie Lou’s spirit shines bright. She’s the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet! She loves snuggling under a blanket, sitting by your side, and showering you with love. Dixie Lou is housebroken, sleeps wonderfully through the night, and has had zero accidents in her foster home. She gets along well with other dogs and loves toys, treats, and mealtime—she’s highly food-motivated, which makes her a joy to train.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process starts with the applicant filling out an adoption application for the pet they are interested in. When they have completed and submitted the application, the screening process is started, which consists of a vet check, phone interview and home visit. Once all the steps are completed, we determine, by our findings, if they are approved, and if so, then they are allowed to adopt from our organization. The final step is they must complete the adoption contract, along with the donation for the animal, which goes into our medical fund to defray their medical costs. All of our animals are spayed and neutered, up to date on all their shots, including rabies, they are parasite free and on heartworm preventative.

More about this rescue

We are the Burlington County Animal Alliance (BCAA)located in Central New Jersey. We are a non-profit organization 501(3)(c), all volunteer rescue that saves animals from our local shelter and surrounding areas of New Jersey that are in danger of being euthanized. We take them into our program, get them the necessary medical care they need and adopt them back out to loving forever homes. We have 60 volunteers, many that open their homes to foster the homeless animals, we do fundraisers to raise money so we can continue to save the dogs and cats in need. We run strictly on donations from our adoptions and people who support our work.BCAA adopts to families in New Jersey, parts of Southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New York.
