My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 5 Months Old

Gender: Male

Breed: Doberman Pinscher Mix

Weight: 59 lbs

Personality: Bear is a perfect balance of energy and affection. With a medium energy level, he enjoys daily walks and outdoor adventures but he is equally content to relax and snuggle at home with his favorite people. Bear thrives on companionship and loves being close, often curling up beside you on the couch or even trying to fit on your lap. Bear is incredibly loyal and likes to build strong bonds with the people around him. Bear's intelligence shines through in how quickly he picks up new commands and tricks, making him fun and easy to train. Playful and sweet, Bear adores his toys—whether it’s a game of fetch, throwing his toys in the air, or simply chewing on a bone or squeaky favorite. Bear has a gentle and friendly nature that makes makes him good with children, and he gets along well with other dogs, bringing a calm yet playful energy to social situations. Overall, Bear is a wonderful companion, blending playfulness with loyalty and a strong desire for close connection.

Education: Bear is potty trained and knows commands like, sit, stay, lay down. Crate training and walking on a leash are still a work in progress, but Bear is doing well in both areas and will continue to need proper socialization, training, and consistency. He would benefit from puppy training and/or more advanced training for mental stimulation due to his breed type.

Favorite Activities: Bear loves to go on walks and enjoys watching all the action going on around him. He loves to be with his people and is always eager to please them and wants to make sure he is making them happy. Bear loves to snuggle and give hugs. Bear loves throwing around stuffed toys and chewing on bones and chew sticks. Bear enjoys car rides and is either sticking his nose out the window or falling fast asleep for the drive.

Looking for: Bear will be a great companion for outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or playing fetch, making him a perfect dog for active individuals or families. Bear is always affectionate, eager to please, and enjoys spending quality time with his people and is happiest when he is included in family activities. Anyone who adopts Bear will be getting get a life long, loyal, smart and very sweet best friend. Follow his foster @joey.n.friends.new.adventures !

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.
