My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rizzo is being fostered in Peoria IL

Meet Rizzo! This sweet and feisty boy is 9 months old and weighs about 30 lbs.  He is a standard male black tri Australian Shepherd with a full tail!  He has the softest fur ever! He loves everyone big and small including humans and dogs. He loves pets, snuggles and cuddles and is so smart! Very treat and food motivated and learns fast! He is vocal with his foster fur siblings when he wants to play and they’re playing hard to get. Otherwise he is pretty quiet. No barking at cars, people walking by or other dogs walking by. He’s in a home with 2 senior aussies male and female and 2 young female chihuahua’s.

Rizzo is fully crate trained and will lay in there on his own when he’s tired. He is quiet in the crate all night. Rizzo should be crated at night and when left at home as he’s still in full on puppy mode and likes to chew when he’s bored. His foster mom will make sure he goes to his furever home with all his favorite chew things that are allowed!

Rizzo would love to have another playful fur sibling and / or a very active family to keep him busy! He rides well in the car and enjoys going bye bye. Rizzo has great recall and comes immediately when called. Being a puppy there are still occasional potty accidents but he’s doing very well with training. As a young Australian Shepherd, he needs continued socialization with the word around him.  He will need a MINIMUM of 2 hours of exercise a day!

Are you the lucky ones to become his furever family? Please complete an adoption application today if Rizzo is your boy!

Rizzo is neutered, up to date on all shots, microchipped, and is on heartworm, flea and tick preventatives. Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
