My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Garry!

This sweet guy came into our care through no fault of his own. Garry quickly became a staff favourite earning himself the nickname "Gar-Bear", he's an absolute cuddle-bug and loves snuggles. An easy going gentleman, Garry loves everyone he meets. He is a chatty guy with a soft mew that will warm your heart. Although he has lived with other cats in the past he can be a little afraid of them so would likely do well in an only cat home although he may feel comfortable with cat savvy cats given a proper gradual introduction. This gentle soul is marked as special needs as he has a heart murmur and slightly splayed back legs so will need to be monitored in case any issues arise in the future with his heart or mobility.

If you're looking for a gentle soul with so much love to give please consider Garry.

If you are interested in adopting Garry, you can come meet him Tuesday-Saturday 12 pm-4 pm. Walk in's are prioritized.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
