My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you been looking for a fun and social pup with a winning personality and great looks to boot? Look no further than Polly! This young adult 37-pound female Walker Hound is sweet, funny, playful, and outgoing. She loves every canine and human that she meets and expects everyone to love her as well. She has been a lovely guest in her foster home while healing from a leg injury, and has gotten along well with her canine foster housemates who range in size from 5 to 30 pounds. She is very respectful of the boundaries that her senior companions have set, but she would really (really, really) love to have a canine friend who would be up for some enthusiastic playtime. Her favorite things are (in order) kind words and pets from her people, dogs who want to be her best friend, nice treats and mealtimes, racing around the fenced-in yard, soft squeaky toys, and soft beds. She is doing well with housebreaking with a consistent and reliable schedule. She will need some help perfecting her leash-walking skills, but she is food motivated and responds nicely to positive correction and reinforcement. She would undoubtedly be the life of the party at your local dog park, brewery, or coffee shop. She has been a surprisingly quiet hound in the home and has not shown any inclination to bark or howl unless there is clearly a squirrel trying to share her immediate space. She enjoys her crate as long as there's a nice soft dog bed and the door is open. She has been fine with being closed off with a baby gate in a larger space, like a washroom. Because of her friendly and fun-loving personality, we expect she'd be a wonderful fit for any home including kids of all sizes. Polly may very well be the perfect addition that your family has been looking for, so please don't wait to meet her. She'd love to be your hound for the holidays!

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
