My foster writes:
Cora took a couple weeks to feel comfortable with me, but once she decided to come out of hiding, the floodgates opened! Now she showers me with love - accepting pets, gobbling up treats, and playing with joy. She will hop into my lap or on my bed on her own terms, but is quick to enforce her boundaries if you try to pick her up. You'll have to work to earn her trust, but boy is it worth it.

What my friends at ACC say about me:

I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.

I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.

I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

Cora interacts with the observer, appreciates attention and petting for some time, but did not appear to like being picked up during her behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. She may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

Animal Care Centers of NYC encourages everyone to come to one of our three full service Care Centers when looking to adopt a pet. Beautiful dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits are anxiously waiting a home to call their own.

All ACC adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, one month of free pet health insurance, and a free office visit at a participating veterinarian.
