My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!

I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.

I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.

I am looking for a home with a patient person.

A volunteer writes: While an open smile may get you far, Philly gave me a look that said, "Are you kidding me right now?" I sat down at her condo and assured her I had no jokes, but plenty of treats and toys to share. It quickly occurred to me that Philly's look is at least partially for show because she then good naturedly sniffed the options before showing me what she really wanted - gentle pets and a hand for her to rest her head. Remaining in her majestic little loaf with her paws perfectly tucked underneath, Philly demonstrated her affection and love with her cheeks. Leaning her head into my outstretched arm, she wasn't rushing to come to the front or take a tour of the shelter, but rather simply enjoying spending time with a friend. We don't know too much about Philly's history prior to coming to the shelter, but sitting with her is a reminder that sometimes the most seemingly simple things, like sitting quietly together, can sparkle brightest.
