Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, I'm Nina, a 12-year-old Alaskan Shepherd/Husky mix. I might be a bit older, but I've got plenty of love and energy to share! During the day, I enjoy lounging around and taking naps, but I'll definitely let you know when I need to go out or want some attention. Despite being a husky, I'm not aloof at all. I love being brushed and sitting outside with my person - it's one of my favorite pastimes.
I'm crate trained and sleep comfortably in my crate at night, though I also enjoy sleeping outside of it too. I'm great with kids and other people once I get to know you. I'm housetrained and know basic commands, especially when treats are involved. I'm a smart cookie and will check the yard for any escape routes, so it's important that fences and gates are secure. I enjoy going for a mile walk twice a day, and I could even go longer, but my human gets tired. On walks, my husky side really comes out - I like to be in front a little and can get easily distracted by other dogs or cats. I don't like being outside alone for long periods, and I really don't get along with cats. If given the chance, I might chase chickens too.
I will be your calm, wise companion and will bring so much joy and love to your life.

Go meet their pets
We are a foster-based, volunteer-driven rescue. All SDRO dogs available for adoption are listed on our website. The listing includes information to help you decide if one of our dogs is right for your household. If you are interested in adopting a dog, please complete an online application. If your home suits the dog's needs, we'll call you to discuss your application and ask any follow-up questions. Our experienced adoption coordinator will discuss the dog’s needs with you to help determine if your home is the right fit. Since we do not operate a shelter and all our dogs are in foster care, a meet-and-greet will be your first opportunity to meet the dog face-to-face.
