Meet, Sully.
This sweet, 70 pound boy is a gentle soul who the vet believes is between the ages of 3-5. He loves meal time, yummy treats, and snuggling. He is a low energy, couch potato, and a very loud snorer. He is kid friendly and dog friendly. He loves to play in the snow. He does not like being crated or confined to certain rooms. Luckily, this is not necessary. Sully is left out with his fosters sisters during the day and has been on perfect behavior -- he's never chewed or gotten into anything except his basket of toys.
Sully needs a fenced yard and would do best in a home where he can continue to learn good manners. He is extremely loving, and will sometimes lean on you or slowly inch his way onto your lap. He's a big boy, so he'll need someone to help him learn about personal space. He is food driven, and he has occasionally hopped up to try to get food on the counter. Given his history (see below), this is not surprising.
Sully was rescued from a home with 14 other boxers. Their owner passed away in the home, and the dogs were left for some time, alone and hungry. During this time, Sully suffered vicious attacks from other dogs. When we went to see the group of dogs, they were energetic, excited, and wanted attention. Not Sully. He laid on the floor, lifeless. He didn't want treats. He didn't want to move. He didn't even raise his head off the floor when we got his leash on to bring him with us. His spirit was broken. He had several deep lacerations, teeth holes, and wounds that required veterinary care. Sully was sweet and loving through it all. He has lots of battle scars on his legs and ears, but has made a full recovery!
Even after all of this, Sully is such a sweet, loving boy. He is looking for a loving home where he will get lots of snuggles and never have to experience pain again.
