Loretta, etc. was abandoned in our neighborhood in October 2024 and all our neighbors began caring for her by leaving food and water out. She would not let anyone get close enough to put her on a leash or pet her. She roamed the neighborhood during the day, helping herself to the food and water left out by everyone. She appeared to be denning in the backyard of a vacant house nearby. With the weather beginning to turn, we notified Animal Control (AC) of our concern for her welfare and they indicated they would try to trap her. Before AC could set a trap, my father succeeded in catching her. AC scanned her for a chip and didn't find one. They indicated strays could only be held for three days before being euthanized. I volunteered to foster her. She is great on a leash and is being crate trained. She is fearful of larger dogs but comfortable and affectionate with people and smaller dogs. She's safe and off the streets and deserves a loving, caring home after what she has endured.
