My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Katie! My journey here was magical, you see, one day while exploring, I stumbled upon a mystical portal that whisked me to this wonderful place. I'm a ball of energy, always ready to play with my fellow doggy friends. I love toys, they're my treasure! I'm smart too, and well-trained, so you won't have to worry about messes. I'm a bit of a goofball, always ready to make you laugh with my antics. I'm friendly and sweet, always ready for a cuddle. My curiosity knows no bounds, I'm always eager to explore new things. I promise to fill your life with joy and laughter. So, why should you adopt me? Well, I'm a bundle of love waiting to shower you with affection, make you laugh, and be your best friend. All I need is a chance to share my magic with you!
I graduated from The SPCA's highly regarded Ruff Start Program which pairs shelter dogs in need of extra care or attention with inmates at Salinas Valley State Prison for training and love.
Katie is finishing her training at Salinas Valley State Prison, but will be ready to meet people starting December 6th. Please call (831)264-5405 to learn more about her!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Four simple steps to adopt a pet
1. Visit the SPCA at 1002 Monterey-Salinas Highway across from WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Visit with the pet you are interested in adopting to see if his personality fits your lifestyle.
2. If you are adopting a new dog and already have one at home, you will need to introduce them at the SPCA to ensure a good match. When adopting, please bring your current dog with you. Our animal care staff will assist you with introducing your current dog to the dog you are hoping to adopt. We also prefer when possible that all family members living in the home meet any new pet before adopting.
3. The SPCA adoption process takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. All paperwork, vaccination records, and microchip information will be provided at this time.
4. Take your new lifelong family member home!

We understand that sometimes potential adopters are at work or school, coming from long distances, or need time to gather pets and family together to meet their potential new adoptee. Because of this, the SPCA offers a 24 hour hold on adoptable pets.
Holds cost $30 for a 24 hour period.
